Evaluation of the Performance of New PhoenixTM Automated Microbiology System on Gram-Negative Rods
نویسنده
چکیده
METHODS: 302 gram-negative rods were tested, including 225 Enterobacteriaceae and 77 strains of Pseudomonas/Others spp.; 192 strains were fresh clinical isolates and 110 were challenge strains. The results of the ID were compared to routine laboratory methods, such as Vitek 1 (bioMérieux, Saint Louis, USA), ATB (bioMérieux, Lyon, France) and AutoSceptor (BDDS). Discrepant ID results were repeated in duplicate and remaining discrepant isolates were sent to the BDDS Lab. The AST were performed according to NCCLS recommendations and the results were compared to the NCCLS recommended standard broth micro-dilution method. Several drug-classes/drugs were evaluated: 5-Fluoroquinolone (9 drugs), Aminoglycoside (5), Penicillin (4), Beta-lactam/beta-lactamases inhibitor (3), Carbapenems (2), Cephem (17), Folate antagonist (2), Aztreonam, Chlorampenicol, Nitrofurantoin, Nalidixic acid, Tetracycline. Discrepant AST results were repeated in duplicate. Data were evaluated as defined by the NCCLS rules for essential agreement (EA), category agreement (CA), very major error (VME), major error (ME), and minor error (MIE) rates.

Sir, Temocillin, a semi-synthetic 6-a-methoxy derivative of ticarcillin, has been shown to be clinically efficacious in infections caused by extended-spectrum b-lactamase (ESBL)and AmpC-producing Enterobacteriaceae. It is licensed in the UK for bacteraemia, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and lower respiratory tract infections where susceptible Gram-negative bacteria are suspected or confirmed....

The new VITEK 2 system (bioMérieux) was evaluated at two independent sites with the identification card for gram-negative bacilli (ID-GNB card). Of the 845 strains tested, which represented 70 different taxa belonging to either the family Enterobacteriaceae or the nonenteric bacilli, 716 (84.7%) were correctly identified at the species level. Thirty-two (3.8%) additional strains were identified...

In this study CuO nano sheets were prepared using the cellulose extracted from green synthesis (cotton) as a novel me project. Structural properties were examined using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), and Ultra Violet (UV-Vis). The optimum copper oxide peak was at 2 theta 〖35.44〗^°corresponding to (1 ̅11) while for the cellulose was 〖22.8〗^°correspon...
